Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 September 2026
MyFirstLap teaches children. That means the little data we hold is about a child, so we hold as little of it as we can and we do not sell any of it.
The short version. Our enquiry form does not send anything to a server of ours. It writes your answers into a WhatsApp message that you send yourself. We keep that conversation so we can teach your child, and we delete it when you are no longer a client. We run no advertising or remarketing trackers, but we do use Google Analytics, which sets a cookie to count visits.
Who we are
MyFirstLap provides private swimming lessons across Singapore. For questions about this policy, or to ask for your data, message us on WhatsApp +65 9233 3099 or call +65 9233 3099, Monday to Saturday, 9am–7pm.
What we collect
When you use the enquiry form we ask for:
- your name, and your phone number if you choose to give it;
- your child's age and current swimming level;
- your preferred day, time, frequency and lesson length;
- your condominium or nearest public pool;
- anything you choose to tell us in the notes field — which may include health, behavioural or special-needs information about your child.
Only your name and your child's age are required. Every other field is optional, and you should share health details only if they affect how we should teach your child.
How the form actually works
This is unusual enough to spell out. The enquiry form runs entirely in your browser. Pressing Send on WhatsApp opens WhatsApp with the message pre-written; nothing leaves your device until you press send inside WhatsApp. We never receive a submission you did not send, and there is no database of abandoned forms.
Once you send it, the message reaches us through WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta and governed by Meta's own privacy terms. Message contents are end-to-end encrypted in transit; Meta still processes metadata about the conversation.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and quote you a rate.
- To match a coach to your child and schedule lessons.
- To keep your coach informed about your child's needs and progress.
- To keep the records a business is required to keep, such as payment records.
We do not use your details for advertising, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell, rent or trade them.
Who else sees it
- Your child's coach, and any coach standing in for them.
- WhatsApp (Meta), as the channel carrying the conversation.
- Your condominium's management, where they require the name of a visiting coach and the resident being visited in order to grant pool access. We share only what access requires.
- Vercel, who host this website. See analytics below.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and move
around this site — which pages get read, which ones people leave, and whether the
enquiry form is being reached. It also counts taps on our WhatsApp and phone links
and enquiry-form sends, but never what you type into them. Google Analytics sets cookies on your
device, normally named _ga and _ga_<id>. They
hold a randomly generated identifier so repeat visits count as one person rather than
several, and they typically last up to two years.
What Google receives includes your IP address, the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you use. We use it only in aggregate: we do not use it to identify individual visitors, we have not switched on Google’s advertising or remarketing features, and we do not sell or share this data with anyone.
We also use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which count page views and measure load times. Unlike Google Analytics, those two are cookieless and aggregate.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address as part of serving the font files. No cookie is set for that.
Turning analytics off
You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings at any time and the site will work exactly as before — nothing on it depends on them. Google publishes an opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and most browsers offer a tracker-blocking setting that stops it.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become lessons are deleted within twelve months. For active clients we keep contact and lesson records for as long as you are with us, and for up to five years afterwards where we need them for accounting and insurance. Health and special-needs notes are deleted when lessons end.
Your rights under the PDPA
Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act you may ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you and how it has been used, to correct anything wrong, or to withdraw your consent to our using it. Message or call us and we will respond within thirty days. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide lessons.
Children's data
We collect a child's data from their parent or guardian, never from the child. We ask for the minimum needed to teach them safely. We will not publish a photograph or video of your child anywhere — including on this website or on social media — without your separate, specific and written permission, and you can withdraw that permission at any time.
Keeping it safe
Access to client information is limited to the people who need it. This site is served over HTTPS with a strict content security policy. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects you, we will tell you and notify the PDPC as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
Note. This policy is a plain-English draft prepared for MyFirstLap's actual practices. Have it reviewed by a Singapore-qualified adviser before you rely on it, and delete this note once you have.
